Donald R. Whaley, age 83, of Independence, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. He was a retired Distributor for BP Oil Company and a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Whaley enjoyed traveling, gardening, and U.K. sports. Survivors include his wife, Wyona Bridges Whaley; daughters, Diane (Jack) Baker, Janice Whaley, and Dawn (Bob) Holder; son, Jeffrey (Sandy) Whaley; brother, Eddie (Janice) Whaley; grandchildren, Valerie (David) Baker Pfenninger, Clay Whaley, Jeremy (Jill) Whaley, Zachary Holder, Travis (Katie) Holder, Adam Baker, Jordana Baker, Joseph (Samantha) Whaley, and Tamara Whaley; great-grandchildren, Ellery Whaley, Kylie Whaley, and Dashiell Whaley.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or Victory Baptist Church.
