Obituary of Jonathan Chambers

Jonathan "Jon" Stephen Chambers, Sr., age 62 of Independence, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital of Florence. He graduated from Simon Kenton High School, retired after 28 years as a gas meter manager for Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company and 10 years at American Meter. Jon was a Kentucky Colonel, served on the Ft. Wright City Council from 1998-1999, was a former member of Ft. Mitchell Country Club, was a school bus driver, and enjoyed boating, guns, bowling, softball, golfing, antique cars, Reds, Bengals and most of all his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents John Shirley Chambers and Cecil Mae Stephens Chambers, grandparents, and grandson Dennis Manning in 2008. Survivors include his wife of 22 years Carla Young Chambers of Independence; previous wife Linda Payne Chambers; mother of daughter Tara Chambers of Louisville; mother of son Jonathan S. Chambers, Jr. (Tracy) of Independence; brother Gerald (Robin) Chambers of Villa Hills; grandchildren Kelsey Manning, Noah, Kyle, Kendra, and Karli Chambers. Visitation will be Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral of Independence. Funeral service will be at 9:30 AM Monday, August 19, 2013 also at the funeral home.
