Obituary of Evelyn Steele

Evelyn Smith Scalf Steele, age 85, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She was homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Walton. Ms. Steele loved collecting antiques and was a member of the General Federated Womens' Club. She was preceded in death by husbands, Vernon Scalf in 1973 and Bernard Steele in 2009. Survivors include her children, Edward (Linda) Scalf of Independence, Don (Rena) Scalf of Dry Ridge, Linda (Charles) Raisor of Houston, TX, and Dennis Scalf of Dry Ridge; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, August 23, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Independence Cemetery.
