Obituary of Howard Altemus

Howard E. Altemus, age 89, of Union, Kentucky, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at his residence. He was retired from Curtis Wright Industries and Titanium Industries as a metallurgist. As a former resident of Riverdale, New Jersey, he was a City Council Member, Fire and Police Commissioner, and 30 year member of the Riverdale Police Pistol Team. Mr. Altemus was a life long member of Preakness Baptist Church in Wayne, New Jersey and a very proud 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #88 in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. He was also very proud of being a U.S Navy WWII Veteran.
Howard moved to Montana with his wife Ruth of of almost 60 years in 1988 for retirement. Together they moved to Kentucky in 1993. His wife preceded Howard in death in 2008. While residing in Kentucky he was an employee of National Enterprise Car Rentals until age of 86. He loved to be busy.
Survivors are his daughter Terry Lee Altemus of Pray, Montana, sister-in-law Gloria Altemus of New Jersey, nieces Bonnie (Bill) Minery of New Jersey, Susan Stup (Ron) of Maryland, and Ellen Altemus of San Francisco, nephews Bill, Jim, Jack, Donald Howard, and Mike Spinnler of Maryland and Stan and Robbie Altemus of New Jersey and New York. He deeply loved his family.
Howard was an enormously kind and generous man who saw only good in others. He leaves his family & friends with great memories. The family has arranged a memorial fund for the children at St. Labre Indian School, P.O Box 216, Ashland, Montana 59004 to honor Howard. Donations are very welcomed.
