Russell England Jr., 82, of Independence, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013 at his residence. Russell was a retired Kenton County Deputy Sheriff of 27 years, starting under Sheriff Nervie Nie thru current Sheriff, Chuck Korzenborn. Russ served as chief deputy under Sheriff Judy Walden. He was former President of the Kentucky Peace Officers. He served on the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council and was a former Commissioner on the Kenton County Planning and Zoning board representing the City of Independence. Also, he was a 60 year member of the Bradford Lodge #123. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to travel. Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie England, also his previous wife, Norma Jean Dunn England. He is survived by his wife, Candice Niemeyer England, daughter, Cathy England Davis, sons, Russell "Rusty"England and Jonathan "JJ"England, step-son, Michael Niewahner, step-daughter, Christina King, sister, Molly Ann Childers, 5 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Chambers & Grubbs Independence. Visitation will be from Noon till 2:00 PM with a Masonic service at 12:15 PM. The funeral ceremony will begin at 2 PM. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
