Joel "Joey" Calvin Cason Sr., 57, of Independence, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member and volunteered at Community Family Church in Independence. Joey worked for the IRS as an HVAC and also owned J and C Repair. He loved painting and even received awards for some of his art work. Joey also was a union custodian for the IRS, enjoyed fishing, collecting hats, music, and talking. He is preceded in death by his father James Cason Sr. and brother James Cason Jr. Survivors include his wife of 34 years Brenda (McHargue); daughter Desirae Scott of Florence; sons Joel Cason Jr. (Maria) of Lexington, Jared Cason of Independence; mother and stepfather Tony and Annalene Vargas; sister Cindy Cahill (Greg) of Morning View; brothers Jack Cason (Annie) of Morning View, Jon Cason of Independence; grandchildren Blake Donovan, Taylor and Elijah Collins, and Dominance Scott. Visitation will be Monday, November 25, 2013 from 6PM until the time of the Funeral Service 8PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Memorials are suggested to Community Family Church 11875 Taylor Mill Rd, Independence, KY 41051.
