Obituary of Gary Simpson

Gary Wayne Simpson, age 65, of Crestview Hills, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. He was a retired Switchman for C.S.X. Railroad (over 38 years), a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of The Next Chapter Church in Cold Spring, KY. Gary also volunteered at Action Ministries, served on several service mission trips, and enjoyed construction, dirt track racing, and puzzles. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Patterson Simpson; son, Eric Wayne (Laurie) Simpson of Hebron; daughter, Alicia Rae (Jerry) Johnson of Orlando, FL; parents, Opal "Dude" and Barbara Simpson of Crittenden; brothers, Larry Bruce Simpson and Jeff (Gloria) Simpson, all of Crittenden; and granddaughter, Ainsley Johnson. Visitation will be Monday, December 9, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services with military honors will begin at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to The Next Chapter Church, 116 Grant St, Fort Thomas, KY 41075 or Action Ministries, 4375 Boron Dr., Covington, KY 41015.
