Obituary of Edwin Parks

Edwin L. Parks, 85, of Florence, Ky., formerly of Ft. Thomas, Ky. passed into the hands of our Lord, Monday, February 3, 2014. He was a barber for many years in Ft. Thomas. He retired as Assistant Administrator for Oak Pavilion Nursing Facility, Cincinnati, Ohio. He served his country many years in the Navy, Army, and Air Force. Teaching Sunday School for most of his adult life at Highland Heights Baptist, First Baptist Ft. Thomas, and Florence Baptist at Mt. Zion, he was a strong prayer warrior and loved his church. He was an avid UK basketball Fan. He was a lifetime member of Ft. Thomas Masonic Lodge 808 and a Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Emma West Parks. He is the loving father of son, Dwight (Pam) Parks and daughter, Janet (Bob) Mullikin. He is an endeared grandfather to grandchildren, Brett (Meghan) Mullikin, Hope (Josh) Willen, Shannon (Joe) Weiland, Tina (Jeff) Faul and Leah (Doug) Bennett. He also had great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers, James Parks of Elizabethtown, KY and Homer Parks of Fairfield, CA; and two very dear friends, Jerry Everett and Carlton Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Effie Parks; brothers Lester Parks of San Antonio, TX and Morris Parks of Upper Marlboro, MD.
A visitation for Edwin will take place at Florence Baptist Church at Mt. Zion on Friday, February 7, 2014 from 10Am until the time of his Funeral Service at 12PM. Burial will immediately follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY.
