Obituary of Carl J. Scherder

Carl J. Scherder, 84, died Thursday April 17 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood. He was a machinist for Avey Machine Tool Co., Covington, a World War II Army veteran, member of St. Cecilia Church, Independence, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Independence Volunteer Firefighters and he enjoyed baseball. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bach Scherder; sons, Ronald J. and Gary Scherder; daughters, Karen S. Glass and Linda M. Barnes; sisters, Helen Bach and Loretta Placke; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday April 20 and Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday April 21 at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Burial will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery.
