Obituary of Shirley Baker-Baynum
Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shirley Baker-Baynum passed away at 3:05 a.m. on Saturday June 28th 2014 in Walton, Kentucky. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on April 23rd 1942 and is the daughter of Margaret H. Langsdale and John V. Baker. She graduated from Simon Kenton High School in 1960 and married Carroll "Buck" Baynum in 1962. Shirley worked for the Kenton County Board of Education as a Cafeteria Manager at Piner Elementary for 27 years. She was loved not only by her friends, family, and co-workers, but also by anyone that was lucky enough to have met her. She loved her job because she loved interacting with children. She enjoyed reading novels on her front porch, going to book sales with her daughter, cooking with her granddaughter, John taking care of her like a son would, and going to Pigeon Forge with her closest friends. Traveling with her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter all over the country was just one of the many additional things she loved to do with her family. Shirley was the widow of Carroll "Buck" Baynum and she is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter; Lisa Jones, John Jones, and Brittany Jones, of Walton Kentucky. She is also survived by her sister and half-brother.
Shirley's visitation will be held at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence, Kentucky on Thursday July 3rd from 5-7 p.m. and the service will follow at 7p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of St. Elizabeth 483 S. Loop Dr. Edgewood, KY.
