Obituary of John Royalty

John Taylor Royalty, Jr., age 66, of Walton, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at his residence. He was a retired Vocational Teacher for Boone County High School and a U.S. Marine Veteran. After retiring, Mr. Royalty maintained his A.S.E. certification, worked part-time at Auto Zone, continued to enjoy tinkering with cars, and continued to receive phone calls seeking advice on automotive repair from his former students. He also was an avid reader of mysteries and such, and enjoyed visiting his family in Shelby County, KY. His parents, John Taylor Royalty, Sr. and Katheryn Elizabeth Brashear Royalty; and sister, Sherrell R. Morrison, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Suzanne McCone Royalty; son, Michael (Julie) Lynn Royalty, Sr. of Bethel, OH; daughter, Karen Royalty Smith of Hopkinsville; sisters, Judy Best of Shelbyville and Rosalind Montgomery of Bagdad; brother, James L. "Rock" Royalty of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Michael Lynn Royalty, Jr., Taylor Ann Royalty, Amanda Jane Smith, and Sarah Smith. Memorial service will be held at noon on Sept. 6 at Burks Branch Baptist Church, 2023 Fox Run Road in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon. In lieu of flowers, please make contribution to Burks Branch Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
