Obituary of Gary Layne

Gary "Mitch" Layne, age 53, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at his home in Burlington, KY after some 28 years fighting a rare disabling disease, "Dermatomyositus", and ensuing strokes. Mitch had retired from Schaefer Box & Pallet Co.; but, loved to spend time in his woodshop, as well as hunting, boating, and walking through the woods and mountains before becoming almost totally incapacitated. Mitch was preceded by his mother Judith H. (Katzenberger) Layne. He is survived by his father, Gary G. Layne, his step mother Audrey Layne, his sister Roberta Kayser, step sisters Kathy Knorr, and Kellie Meiman, his son and step son Chad M. Layne, and Raymond Lape and daughter and step daughter Alicia C. Layne and Stephenie Lape, his two step grandsons Andon and Brandt Lape and his fiancé Ronda Wayne. A memorial visitation will be conducted on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 9066 Gunpowder Road, Florence, KY 41042 from 2:00PM with services beginning at 3:00PM. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Holiday Inn Express, on Frogtown Connector Rd, Richwood, KY commencing at 4:00PM.
