Cola Harvey, 86, of Florence, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at his home. A quiet man, and cherished father who made a big impact, was a retired electrician-lineman and 60 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 212, was a US Army veteran of the Korean War, was one of the founders and builders of the Florence Antique Mall and enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Cola was preceded in death by his wife Joy Ruth Hardin Harvey, three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include daughter Coleen (Michael) Detzel of Florence, son Gary (Patricia) Harvey of Burlington, daughters of choice Linda Hardin of Naples, FL, and Barbara Cynkar of Ft.Collins, CO; grandchildren Celesta Sexton, Phillip Vanover, Jennifer Vanover, Stephanie Konicek, and Bryan Cynkar; and great-grandchilren Cody Sexton, Conner Simpson, and Madison Vanover; beloved uncle and father of choice to a host of those blessed to know him.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home of Walton from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 1 PM. Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 13, 2014 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North of Williamstown with Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
