Obituary of Melba Cook

Melba Louise (Ware) Cook, 94, of Piner, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at the William Dunlap Center for Caring in Raleigh, NC. She was a partner with her husband, Lloyd, in managing the Piner grocery store. Melba enjoyed sewing, flower gardening and a love for crossword puzzles. She was a member at Walton First Baptist Church, and formerly a member of Piner Baptist Church. She also enjoyed attending WMU meetings at Piner Baptist and the Homemakers Club. Melba is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Fisk Cook and her sister Mildred Fredrick Armstrong. She is survived by her daughters Myrna (Kenneth) Stephenson of Raleigh, NC and Marcia (Quentin) Campbell of Union; sister Thelma Davis of Fiskburg; grandchildren Mark (Jo) Stephenson, Sonya (David) Goddard, and Brian Campbell; great-grandchildren Sarah Stephenson, Alden, Elyse, and Dawson Goddard. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 12PM to 3PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. A Funeral Service will begin at 3PM also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of the donor's choice.
