Obituary of Louis Popper

Louis J. Popper, Jr., age 76, of Cincinnati, OH, died peacefully at his home on October 13, 2014. He was a retired owner and stylist for Hyde Park Coiffures having served his customers for over 43 years. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Lou graduated from cosmetology school and opened The New Yorker Salon in Roselawn achieving many awards in styling competitions. He studied with Leo Passage, Vidal Sassoon, and Martin Parsons. Lou considered his clientele as family and often styled members of three to four generations of families. He was a collector of fine art, had a quick wit, and was a wonderful listener and storyteller. Lou is survived by many friends and family including his business partner, Frank (Faye) Burdick, Jr. and son, Frank Burdick, III; brothers, Fred Popper and Michael (Kay) Popper; Nieces and Nephews, Diane Morris, Shelley Stover, Kelly Lyons, Sandy Campbell, Kathy Walsh, Chris Popper, and Samantha King; many great nieces and nephews; friends John Raines, Lee Calhoun and many other close friends.
A funeral service and reception to celebrate Lou's life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church, 103 William Howard Taft Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45219. Interment will be at Vine Hill Street Cemetery. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence, KY is assisting the family with services.
