Obituary of Georgia Brown

Please share a memory of Georgia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Georgia Brown, 93, 'had a lot of spirit' "Fat and sassy" -- that's how Georgia Brown would respond when people asked her how she was doing, but her daughter-in-law said she was neither fat nor sassy. "It's funny that she would say that to people because she was neither," daughter-in-law Jeannie Brown of Walton said. In fact, Brown said her mother-in-law only weighed about 85 pounds most of her life. "But, she had a lot of power and spirit and wanted to stay on the go," she said. Georgia Brown, 93, of Walton, died Wednesday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. Mrs. Brown was a member of First Baptist Church in Walton, where she led the church women's missionary union and taught Sunday school. "She was a good Christian woman that taught Sunday school and that was a very important part of her life," Brown said. Every Christmas, her mother-in-law would hand-make ornaments and give them to the Sunday school children. Just as important to her was her son, Wendell Brown III, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Brown said Mom and son had a close relationship because his father, Wendell Brown, died in 1974. "They watched over each other and took care of each other," she said. "They have had a close bond." Mrs. Brown also enjoyed gardening, reading and spending winters in Florida. She was a retired practical nurse with the office of Dr. William Waller in Walton and member of Boone County Homemakers. A son, John Jacobs, died in 1999. A daughter, Elizabeth Vlasis, died July 13. In addition to her son, survivors included a sister, Birdie Glacken of Covington; brothers, Les Cram of Independence and John Cram of Burlington; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Walton. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, 47 S. Main St., Walton, Ky. 41094. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton, is handling arrangements.
