Obituary of Barbara Mersch
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Ann Coleman Mersch, age 81, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport, KY. She was a retired Teaching Assistant for Covington Independent Schools. Barbara was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, formerly participated in bowling leagues around Northern Kentucky, enjoyed playing cards, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. In years past, Barb was always up early and had her laundry done and the house clean before her kids were awake. Her house often resembled a day care center and was known as "the Do Drop Inn" by many of her children's friends. She loved to cook and always had a hot breakfast prepared before school and a dinner ready when the kids got home. Barb also loved the Christmas season. In later years at Christmas time, she would make Christmas thumbprint cookies for all the grandchildren, sing Christmas carols, and loved to drive around to see all the Christmas decorations and lights. Her husband, Ralph Mersch; daughter, Beverly (Dave) Sizelove; sister, Bernadine (Jim) Coyne; and brothers, Ronald and Wallace Coleman preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Darrin) Robinson, Cathy (Charles) Rump, Nancy Mersch, and Laura (Larry) Mersch; sons, Gary (Camille) Mersch, Mark (Debbie) Mersch, and Tim (Peggy) Mersch; sisters, Faye Pennington and Carol Pierce; brothers, Roger Coleman and Dan Coleman; eighteen grandchildren; and forty great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with a funeral service beginning at 12 noon at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn Street, Cincinnati, OH 45203. Online condolences may be expressed to www.chambersandgrubbs.com.
