Donald "Don" D. Powell, 81, of Erlanger, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. He was a truck driver for Roadway Transportation. Don was a huge UK fan and enjoyed playing golf and stock car racing. He is preceded in death by his brothers Herbie, Charlie, and Ellis Powell, and his sister Louise Ayers. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Mildred (nee Lucas); daughter Vicki (Jerry) Newman of Alexandria; son Donnie (Kelly) Powell of Burlington; sister Patsy (Jim) Pitzer of Independence; brother Bobbie Powell of Mt. Orab, Ohio; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; best friends that are like family, Larry, Cindy and Justine Gross. A visitation for Don will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 4PM until 7PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. The funeral service will be on Monday, December 22, 2014 beginning at 2PM also at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Peachgrove, KY. Memorial donations are suggested to American Cancer Society, 297 Buttermilk Pike, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017
