I met Sandy in 2002 when she accepted a tax examiner job in Examination Department while she was a clerk in Files. Sandy attended 4 weeks of training, and assigned to a "On-the-Job" coach. Sandy came to me about 8 weeks after she started the job requesting to return to Files. I kept telling her she could do this the tax examiner job. Well 4 more weeks went by and she returned to me requesting to go back to Files. I tried so hard to encourage her, but she still wanted to go back to Files. So with a heavy heart I called Mr. Williamson to see if they had a position for her. Thankfully they didn't have any place for her. I was so happy to be able to keep her as an employee, and eventually as a good friend. Sandy was a hard worker, never having a negative attitude. After a couple of years Sandy realized she could and did do a great job no matter what some people thought. I've never once told her "you can't do it" because we both knew she had overcome a lot of obstacles and was a great employee. We shared a lot of our kids story, our own health issues, etc. When I was forced to take another position I knew I would miss some of the greatest, caring employees. During our years of separation on the job, we kept in touch by email, phone calls, and limited visits. I have missed the old days of working together, but I'll never forget the "little blonde" who thought she couldn't do it. Rest in peace Sandy!!
