Michael "Hairbear" A. Haire, Sr. 55, of Independence passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and in the presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He was a self-employed contractor with skills in every level of construction. He traveled the world in the 80's with his career in plastic mold injection machines. Some destinations included Israel, Germany and Taiwan. Mike was happiest surrounded by his family. He was the family "grill master" and had a large collection of smokers and grills. His second love was nature, being an avid hunter and fisherman. He was extremely knowledgeable regarding animals, fish, insects and plant life, many times he could tell you the entire cycle of a certain species.
He was born June 13, 1959 in Middletown, OH. He was preceded in death by his dad Orville "Sonny" Haire in 2010. Survivors include his mom Nancy Haire of Independence; son Michael (Melyssa) A. Haire Jr. of Springfield, OH (Mike's hometown); brothers Mark Haire Sr. of Colorado; Joseph A. Haire Sr. of Independence; sisters Cheryl A. Middleton of Owensboro, KY; Lynn Strittholt of Independence; Kathy Haire of Lawrenceburg, IN; Amie Ahlers of Independence; granddaughter Jaedyn Haire, and twin step-grandchildren Aaliyah and Alyssa Rainwater of Springfield, OH and a hosts of nieces and nephews.
Services will be officiated by Chaplain Tim Schabell on Sunday, March 1, 2015, 1pm at Beechgrove Community Center 4217 Beechgrove Dr. Independence, KY 41051 immediately followed by "A Celebration of His Life". Flowers should be sent to his mom's residence; C/O Nancy Haire 4189 Birnam Dr. Independence, KY 41051, they will be transported to the services. The family wishes to personally thank Oncologist Michelle Redden-Borowski MD, Radiologist Lauren Imwalle MD and "Hospice of St. Elizabeth" in Edgewood, KY for their exceptional care of Mike and the family, especially his loving nurse Jan Saunders and Chaplain Tim Schabell.
