Obituary of John Redman

John Jacob Redman, age 96, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at his residence. He was a self-employed construction worker and enjoyed playing cards. John was a WWII "Battle of the Bulge" Army veteran, who received a Purple Heart medal. His contributions to his country and community also included being a founding member of the Kenton Fire Department and a former Fire Chief there.
His wife, Catherine Redman; sisters, Julia Hammond and Virginia Ishmael; and brothers: Edward, Howard, Elmer, Walter, and Harry, all preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughters: Barbara Dirkes, Linda Hensley, and Karen Sabie; sons, James Ray Redman and Russell Redman; sister, Helen Kloentrup; (18) grandchildren; (40) great-grandchildren; and (7) great-great-grandchildren.
His visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence from 6 PM until 9 PM. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery.
