Virginia Fay Meyer Baker, 95, of Florence, KY passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Florence Park Care Center at the age of 95.
She was born on October 17, 1920, the daughter of George and Anna Meyer. Virginia was a self-employed store owner and attended Hebron Lutheran Church. She was an Army veteran, having served during WWII and was one of the first women to do so. Virginia was also a member of the American Legion and the Daughters of the American Revolution and also enjoyed reading and considered herself to be a history buff.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elbert Baker; brother, George Meyer and son-in-law, Donald Whitmire. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Sien Whitmire and Kari (Benny) Watkins; 4 grandchildren Karina McGill (Aaron) Crooker, Alana (Philip) Blackburn, Ian McGill, Gary Watkins, Jr., and 1 step-grandson Daniel Whitmire; and 9 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation for Virginia will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM at Hebron Lutheran Church, 3140 Limaburg Road, Hebron, KY 41048. Burial will immediately follow at Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials in Virginia's name may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
