Obituary of Eugene Penn

Eugene Milton Penn, age 71, of Independence, went on to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 26, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Penn loved serving the Lord and working with young people. He was a Vocational Educator for the State of Kentucky for 27 years having taught or served as an Administrator for Rowan County Schools, Principal at Patton Vocational, and teacher at Northern Kentucky University. His church service included having served as Pastor at Melbourne U.M.C., Main Street U.M.C. in Covington, and Epworth U.M.C., and he provided Pastoral Counseling. Mr. Penn was also a member of Partners in Prevention, the Kentucky Educator's Association, the Emmaus Community, the Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Larita A. Spooner Penn; children, Lori Caldwell (Richard), Erin Penn, and Megann Nyman (Jacob); sister, Anda Lou Gouge; and grandchildren, Aleah Penn, Ashley Caldwell, Justin, Caldwell, Andrew Nyman, and James Nyman.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Walton Cemetery.
