Obituary of Alice Wilson

Alice Bernice Wilson went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, drawing her last breath on this earth and her first breath in Heaven at 12:50 a.m., April 11, 2016.
She was born March 17, 1922, the daughter of William and Anna Mae (DeBord) Doughman at home in Butler County, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Samuel R. Wilson; her brother, Eugene Doughman; and sisters, Bertha Williams and Mary Roberson.
She, along with her husband, were the founders of Newport First Church of God in Newport, Kentucky. They began the church in the basement of their home at 718 Central Avenue and later relocated it to the corner of 9th and Boone Streets in Newport, Kentucky. Sister Wilson, and as she later became known as Mother Wilson, was a faithful servant of God from the age of 16. She served as pianist, choir director, song leader, Sunday School teacher and more while raising a family and working at Interlake Steel.
She is survived by her daughters, Bernita Wilson, Charlotte (Verlin) McIntosh, and Jayne (Lowell) McIntosh; her granddaughters, Elizabeth McIntosh, Deborah (Darwin) Beck, and Phoenix Wilson; and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin Beck, Elin McIntosh, and Stephen Beck.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Hospice of the Bluegrass for each one that assisted with services and care of her and her family during the time before and during her passing.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at New Heart located at 3804 Old KY 17, Ft. Wright, Kentucky. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with service at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Independence Cemetery.
