Carolyn Jean Galliers passed away peacefully at home in Hebron, Kentucky on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the age of 69 after a courageous year-long battle with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML). She was born on June 1, 1946 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Thomas "Ted" and Evelyn Reeves. She graduated from Rossford High School in 1964 and studied physical education at Ohio Northern University. She was a full-time homemaker for most of her life and worked for a short time at the University of Toledo bookstore where she made many friends.
Carolyn was an active member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio beginning at an early age. She met the love of her life, David, through the active youth ministry, and they were married on March 22, 1969 at the church. She was a Sunday school teacher, choir mother, and member of the vocal and bell choirs. She was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of God's love and the peace that would come when she entered His Kingdom.
Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Her most cherished memories were of the annual family vacation at Black Lake near Onaway, Michigan and camping every Memorial Day weekend at Judson Hills near Loudonville, Ohio. Her favorite pastimes included walking her dogs at parks, watching her children and grandchildren play sports and perform in the theater, boating trips, exploring lighthouses, attending golf tournaments, Ohio State Buckeyes football games, and Bunco nights with friends. She loved cooking and cooking shows, making Easter candy and Christmas cookies, playing and enjoying music, crossword puzzles, sewing, painting, photography, and decorating every wall with pictures of her family. Above all, she loved time spent with her husband, her children, and her grandchildren.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, David; children, Bradley (Jennifer) Galliers of Perrysburg, Ohio, Brian (Karen) Galliers of Liberty Township, Ohio, Karen Sowards of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, and Adam (Beverly) Galliers of Hilliard, Ohio; grandchildren, Alex, Eli, Ella, Truman, Evie, and Scarlett; step-grandchildren, Autumn, Summer, and Carter; brother, Thomas Reeves; her beloved canine companion, Abby, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Evelyn Reeves.
