Obituary of James Harney

James Cary "Jimmy" Harney, Jr., age 45, of Independence, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. He was a Foreman of Electricians at Mayers Electric in Cincinnati, OH and a member of the IBEW Local 212. Jimmy enjoyed boating, swimming, and spending time with his family. Over the years he became a talented trainer of Tennessee Walking Horses and had trained a champion "walker" last year in the Tennessee Celebration event. He also was a member of the Walking Horses Association. His mother, Donna Harmon Harney preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife (of almost 19 years), Shawna Daly Harney; daughter, Grace Elizabeth Harney; son, James Garrett Harney; father, Jim Harney, Sr. (Gloria); brothers, Bill Harney (Tracy) and Joe Harney (Chasity) and in-laws, Mike and Denise Daly. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 3 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 7 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence.
