Obituary of Charles Ransler

Charles William Ransler Jr., (Aug. 18, 1922-June 17, 2016) of Florence, KY passed away peacefully at St. Elizabeth Hospice Friday, June 17. Mr. Ransler was the son of Charles W. and Katie Ransler of Walton, KY. He graduated from Walton High School in 1940 and Transylvania University in 1948 after proudly serving as a Lt. JG in the Navy in WWII. He went on to receive a Masters Degree and Rank 1 in Education from Xavier University. Mr. Ransler married Barbara Lutes of Florence, Ky on July 24, 1948. Mr. Ransler began his 37 year career in Education at Hebron High School in 1948 where he taught Math, Science and coached basketball and football at Lloyd HS, Covington Holmes, Norwood OH and Wyoming HS. He was Principal at Erlanger Elementary, Lockland HS, Tichenor Middle School and ended his career as Principal at Ockerman Elementary. Mr. Ransler was a very active member of Walton Christian Church as a Deacon, Erlanger Christian Church as Deacon, Elder and Trustee and as an Elder at Wyoming Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, visiting Lake Cumberland, a good joke, cheering for the UK Wildcats and travels with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 68 years, Barbara, 2 sons; Dr. Charles W. Ransler III (Gail), John L. Ransler (Linda), daughter; Barbara Anne Ransler, 7 grandchildren; Charles W. Ransler IV (Madeleine), Dr. Findley Finseth (Ryan), Abigail Sabri (Sammer), Anna Ransler (Tyler Donati), Paige, Haley and Megan Ransler and 2 great-granddaughters; Beatrix and Clementine Finseth and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Erlanger Christian Church on Saturday, June 25, 2016. Visitation will be from 9-11 AM with the service immediately following. Burial with a private family committal service will be held in Highland Cemetery.
