Obituary of Margaret Hammond Phillips

Elsmere-Margaret Ellen Hammond Phillips, 64, formerly of Beattyville and Newport, died Saturday, Jan. 31, at her home. She was a phone repair technician for Annexter and a member of Grace Baptist Church, Beattyville. Her grandson, Jessie Lee Sharon died previously. Survivors include six daughters, Sharon Garrison, of Clinton, Tenn., Valerie Thacker, of Milton, Ky., Jo Ann Sharon, of Richmond, Ky., Angela Parks, of Elsmere, Ruby Warren, of Independence, and Jo Ann Phillips, of Verona; two sons, John Phillips, of Verona, and Paul Phillips, of Blue Ash, Ohio; a sister, Jennie Coomer, of Independence; five brothers, Tom Hammond, of Newport, David Keith, of Frankfort, Richard Hammond, of Covington, Eddie Hammond, of Newport, and Roy Hammond, of Florida; three sisters, Donna Dowdy, of Owen County, Darlene Keith, of Frankfort and Suzie Reynolds, of Danville, Ky, 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, and services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will be in Independence City Cemetery, Independence.
