Obituary of Joseph Berkemeier

Joseph Kenneth Berkemeier, age 83, of Morning View, KY, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at his residence, after a lengthy illness. He was retired, but he had served in many roles over the years, including Handyman, Business Owner, Carpenter, and Care Giver. Ken was also the former Fire Chief for the Walton Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, an Elder of Demossville Baptist Church, and an avid fisherman. His parents, Adolf and Lyida Berkemeier, and 7 siblings, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Laverne Berkemeier; children, Diane, Kenny Jr., Babette, Nicole and Kendra; step-children, Chris and Lisa; fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Wilmington Cemetery in Morning View. Memorials may be made to Demossville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 27, Demossville Rd., Demossville, KY 41033.
