Herman "Hap" Whalen, Jr. of Ft. Wright, KY went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the age of 89.
He was born in Covington, KY on August 31, 1927; the son of Herman and Elsie Whalen Sr. Hap served in the United States Army during WWII and Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of Suntree United Methodist Church in Florida and participated in the local Mason's, Shriner's, Scottish Rite and Latonia American Legion - VFW. Hap also enjoyed golfing and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Karen (Leonard) Collins; sister, Ruth Ann Marshall; brother, Paul Robert Whalen, grandchildren, Julie (Tony) Russo and Patrick (Brittnie) Collins; 4 great-grandchildren; cherished nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
Service's for Hap will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorials in Hap's name may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd floor, Bethesda, Maryland 20814.
