UNION - Melinde B. Hackel Leport, 67, of Union, formerly of Kansas City, KS., died Tuesday, March 10, at St. Elizabeth Hospice, Edgewood. She was a homemaker, private secretary to the general manager of Carpenter Paper in Kansas City, Mo; administrative assistant at FH Lawson Co. of Cincinnati; executive director of Red Cross in Cape Girardeau, Mo., member of Walton United Methodist Church, president of Oak Hills Junior Women's Club of Cincinnati and New Friends of Northern Kentucky. Survivors include her husband, Fred R. Leport Jr.; daughter, Kristi Leport Winchell of Campbellsburg and Michele Leport Hallmann of Hamburg, Germany; son, Fred Leport III of Union; sisters, Janet Dickenson of Houston, Texas and Cheryl Bunch of Overland Park, Kan.; and 10 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Monday, March 16, with memorial service following at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. The body will be donated to the University of Kentucky.
