Mary Evelyn "Dutch" Cheesman, age 86, of Morning View, KY, passed away Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY.
She was born July 18, 1930 and lived most of her wonderful life in Morning View. She was a member of Morning View United Methodist Church and choir. Dutch was one of the founders of the Kenton Community Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Visalia Elementary P.T.A. and always was active in her children and grandchildren's activities at school. Dutch was well known in the area for her homemade blackberry cake with caramel icing and her beef barbecue and coleslaw. Her husband, Joseph "Bud" Cheesman; children, Kathy Ann Farmer (2001), Rebecca "Becky" Jo Lucas (2006), and Gary Ray Cheesman (2015); and grandchildren, Bobby Jo and Billy Jo Piercefield preceded her in death. She was the loving mother of Cynthia Scott (Duke) and Joseph "Joey" Cheesman; cherished grandmother of Wade Hubbard (Tammy), Chris Hubbard (Marcia), Tammy Jo Naylor Hubbard (Ken), John Rider (Jennifer), David Farmer (Aubree), Angie Armstrong (Frank), Aimee Hopkins (Jay), Mandy Davis (Quentin), Kim Cheesman (Josh), Kathy Cheesman (Rory); dear great-grandmother of Danielle Hubbard, Robert Lee, Rita Jo Ann Naylor, Malachi Rider, Riley Mitchell, Frank and Ellie Mae Ann Armstrong, Ryann Davis, Wyatt Patrick, Sadie Rose Farmer, and Jasper Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Morning View United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 13, Morning View, KY 41063.
