Obituary of Harry Bode

Harry Thomas Bode, III, age 84, of Union, KY, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Florence Park Care Center in Florence, KY. Harry graduated from Elder High School in 1950. After his graduation, Harry enlisted in the United States Navy, where he honorably served for four years. Later, friends of Harry's encouraged him to take an examination to become a Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy. He passed and became a patrol officer where Harry served his first five years in Patrol. He was promoted to Detective in 1966, Detective Sergeant in 1968, and Detective Lieutenant in 1973. During 1977, Harry became the Executive Patrol Officer. Sheriff Simon Leis promoted him to Chief Deputy in 1987.
Chief Deputy Bode retired May 31, 1997 with 40 years of service to his country and community. Harry enjoyed boating, playing cards, sports (especially football), and cheering on his Cincinnati Bengals. His first wife, Lucille Bode and brother, Ken Bode, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine R. Kresz Bode; step-children, Debra Brinkdopke (Bill) and Mark Roehrig (Shelly); siblings, Marie Seifert and George "Pat" Bode"; grandchildren, Cory Margrave (Dusty) and Nathan Roehrig; three great grandchildren and numerous, beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 62 Needmore St., Walton, KY 41094. Interment will be at St. Joseph New Cemetery, 4500 Foley Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45238.
