James "Jim" Calvin Auton, age 74, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his residence. He was born to the late Ransom and Mildred Auton on March 22, 1942 in Independence. Jim owned his own business as an insurance agent. He was a member at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church and attended St. Boniface and James Church, having served as a deacon for 18 years. Jim enjoyed golfing, traveling, being active at church, and his grandchildren. He was a member of the Jaycees, Knights of Columbus, he was on the Independence Fire Department and an EMT, and was also involved with the Cursillo Movement through church. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dianne Auton; sons, Brian (Melinda) Auton and Andrew (Dianna) Auton; sister, Linda (John) Bach; brothers, Robert (Patti) Auton, Tony Auton, and Mike (Belinda) Auton; grandchildren, Zachary, Morgan, Jacob, Sierra, Hope, and Angel. A visitation for Jim will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 9AM until 12PM at St. Cecilia Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12PM, also at the church. Interment will be at St. Cecilia Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W. Lilburn, GA 30047.
