Obituary of Margaret Poore

Margaret "Margie" Mayo Poore passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born January 9, 1940, at the Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT, where her father, Lewis J. Mayo, was Chief Pharmacist and her mother, Jean A. Mayo, was a Medical Technologist. She attended McDuffie School in Springfield, MA and graduated from Woodbury High School, Woodbury, CT. Margie later attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and graduated Booth Hospital School of Nursing in Covington, KY and Thomas More College in Edgewood, KY.
Survivors include her beloved husband of forty-five years, Dr. Floyd G. Poore; daughters, Kimberly Poore Moser (Dr. Neal), Wendy Poore Burki (Dr. Nausher), Robin Poore Durepo, Kristi Poore Nelson (Jeff); sons, Richard Mansfield Poore (Rachel) and Douglas Floyd Poore (Steph); fourteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and her sister, Jean Mayo.
Over the years, Margie was involved in numerous community and state causes, but she was always devoted to her husband and large family. Blessed with many great friends and family, Margie and Floyd had a full, great life with winters in Naples, FL and traveling in their motor coach seeing many unique and interesting parts of the world with those they loved.
A gathering of friends and celebration of life service will be held Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Triple Crown Country Club, 10644 Triple Crown Boulevard, Union, KY 41091.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Center, the Salvation Army, or the charity of one's choice. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Florence is assisting the family.
