Obituary of Norman Owen

INDEPENDENCE - Norman Owen, age 89, of Independence, formerly of Valley Station, KY, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Baptist Village Care Center in Erlanger. He was a tool and die maker for Ft. Knox, a WW II Army veteran and P.O.W., a mason, a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and a former member of Beth Haven Baptist Church in Valley Station, where he had been a deacon and taught Sunday School. He was preceded in death by wives, Cora Marie Rissler Owen and Marilyn Davis Owen. Survivors include his son Tom Owen of Independence; sisters Jessie Baize of Coronado, CA, Thelma Pontrich of Arlington, TN, Doris Ducoff of Peneleton, KY and Loretta Batliner of Louisville; brother Herbie Owen of LaGrange, CA; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. Visitation will be 5 - 7 pm, Thursday, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Services will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Louisville Memorial Gardens. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be sent to Baptist Village, care of Sue Rachford, 2990 Riggs Ave., Erlanger, KY 41018
