INDEPENDENCE - Norman Owen, age 89, of Independence, formerly of Valley Station, KY, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Baptist Village Care Center in Erlanger. He was a tool and die maker for Ft. Knox, a WW II Army veteran and P.O.W., a mason, a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and a former member of Beth Haven Baptist Church in Valley Station, where he had been a deacon and taught Sunday School. He was preceded in death by wives, Cora Marie Rissler Owen and Marilyn Davis Owen. Survivors include his son Tom Owen of Independence; sisters Jessie Baize of Coronado, CA, Thelma Pontrich of Arlington, TN, Doris Ducoff of Peneleton, KY and Loretta Batliner of Louisville; brother Herbie Owen of LaGrange, CA; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be 5 - 7 pm, Thursday, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Services will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Louisville Memorial Gardens.
