WALTON - Elden "Wayne" Rice, age 86, died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Hospice of the Bluegrass, Ft. Thomas. He was a retired meter reader for the City of Walton and former custodian for First Baptist Church of Walton, where he was a member for over 75 years and had a record of not missing a service for 62 years. Mr. Rice was also a member of the Walton Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star and a lifetime member of the Syrian Shrine Temple. He is survived his brother, Don Rice of Crestview Hills; and two nieces, Donna Rice of Highland Heights and Barbara McMillan of Peachtree City, GA.
A gathering of friends will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Walton. The memorial service will begin at 7 p.m. at the church. Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Walton is handling the arrangements.
Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church at 47 South Main, Walton, KY 41094.
