Obituary of Wiliam Pilyer

FLORENCE - William Jerry Pilyer, age 78, of Florence, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. He was a retired Road Driver for Roadway Express (over 25 years), where he was awarded several safe mile awards including a 2,000,000 safe mile award. Mr. Pilyer was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association (NMLRA, mens' off hand national champion in 1973), and had a passion for aviation, having attained his instrument and commercial pilot's license. He is survived by his wife, Lois Koenig Pilyer of Florence; son, William Troy Pilyer of Union, (3) grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs in Florence. Funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the KY Veterans Cemetery in Williamstown, KY.
