INDEPENDENCE - Bernard Steele, 87, of Independence formerly of West Harrison, IN died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. He was a Farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Walton. Survivors include his wife Evelyn Smith Scalf Steele of Independence; daughter Jacqueline Wurth of Logan, IN; 3 sons Lonnie Steele and Merle Steele both of Logan, IN and Robert Steele of Neodesha, KS; step-daughter Linda Rasor of Houston, TX; 3 step-sons Edward Scalf of Independence, Don Scalf of Dry Ridge and Dennis Scalf of Florence; 5 Grandchildren; 1Great-Grandchild and 6 Step-Grandchildren and 7 Step-Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 12:30 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Independence. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Walton, 47 South Main Street, Walton, KY 41094.
