Obituary of James Noakes

INDEPENDENCE - James Noakes, age 86, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Thomson Hood V.A. Center in Wilmore, KY. Mr. Noakes was a retired Boiler Operator for Cincinnati Public Library, a sergeant in the U.S. Army and a Veteran of WWII. He was also a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Wilmington Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and Eastern Star. Mr. Noakes was preceded in death by his wife Anna Harris Noakes in 1993. He is survived by his daughter, Lucinda Noakes of Independence; sons, James Noakes of Burlington, Wayne and Jeffrey Noakes of Independence; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Masonic & Scottish Rite services will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening. Funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be Thursday at Independence Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Wilmington Masonic Lodge or the Scottish Rite.
