Obituary of R. D. Scalf

INDEPENDENCE - R.D. Scalf, age 80, died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at his residence. He was a retired superintendent for Kenton County Water Works, the former president of the KY/TN Water Works Association, a lifetime member of the American Water Works and a Mason. Mr. Scalf enjoyed spending time with family and especially enjoyed T.G.I.F. (Thank God It's Family) nights. Mr. Scalf was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & Sallie Scalf; grandparents Victor & Ollie Scalf and James & Leann Neal; brother, Leland Scalf and a grandson, David Kenneth Scalf. Survivors include his beloved wife (49 years), Emma L. Coleman Scalf of Independence; (2) sons, Ronald Dean Scalf of Odessa, FL and Danny Richard Scalf of Lakeland, FL; (2) daughters, Paula Kavanaugh True of Independence and Linda Ann Purvis of Independence; (15) grandchildren; (25) great grandchildren and sister Doris Jean Presley. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs in Independence. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice.
