Obituary of Charles Hickey

INDEPENDENCE - Charles "Mel" Melvin Hickey, 73, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth. Mr. Hickey was a retired letter carrier for US Postal Service, a US Army Veteran, a member of the US Navy Reserves, a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Custodian for Calvary Christian School, and coached Booster Baseball, and was a former member at Southside Baptist Church. Mel was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Denson. He is survived by his wife Arleen Osborne Hickey, a daughter Michele Martin, 2 sons, Mike Hickey & Kevin Hickey, all of Independence; 3 sisters Marion McCord, of Barnegat,N.J., Helen McNeese of Edgewood, & Judy Hedrick of Kingland,Ga; 2 brothers Curt Hickey of Nashville, Tn. & Alvin Hickey of Louisville & 7 grandchildren. The services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church of Latonia. The visitation will be Monday, May 17, 2010 from 5-8 pm. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 11am. Mr. Hickey will be buried at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Memorial donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3711 Tibbatts Road, Covington, Kentucky 41015 or Calvary Christian School, 5955 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, Kentucky 41015.
