WALTON - William Lloyd Thornton, age 80, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. He was an Army Veteran and a member of Staffordsburg United Methodist Church in Independence. Mr. Thornton was also a retired Engineer for CSX railroad and enjoyed fishing and playing poker. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Ann Bowman Callis Thornton of Walton; (3) daughters, Pamela Bailey of Sharonville, OH, Brenda Hartmann of Panama City, FL, and Cheryl Collins of Newport Beach, CA; (2) sons, Rodney Thornton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Tim Callis of Wellfleet, MA; (5) grandchildren; and (3) great grandchildren. A gathering of friends will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Staffordsburg United Methodist Church, 11815 Staffordsburg Road, Independence, KY 41051.
