Obituary of Matilda Richardson

Matilda Mary (nee Neumann), age 92, was born on June 14, 1918 in Cincinnati OH and passed away from Alzheimer's Disease on November 5, 2010 at Madonna Manor. She was preceded in death in 1976 by her beloved husband, James Richardson. Her survivors include her son, Warren Richardson of Independence, daughter Charlotte Rohmiller (Harvey) of Villa Hills, grandson Michael Rohmiller, (Kimberly) of Lakeside Park, granddaughter Denise Middendorf (Ryan) of Peoria, IL, great-grandchildren Mason, Grayson and Bennett Rohmiller, Isaac and Felix Middendorf, as well as 8 nieces and 5 nephews. Matilda Richardson was a homemaker who loved to bake bread and other items, often giving them as gifts. She was employed as a seamstress for the Rauh Shirt Co in Cincinnati, OH before serving as a 4-H Club Leader for 20 years. She has been a member of St. Cecilia Parish in Independence KY for 67 years, serving as Kitchen Chairman of the Labor Day Festival and President of the Altar Society. In 1961, she and other board members organized the first Kenton County Fair Association, Inc. In 1976, she was elected secretary of the Fair Board, a job she held until 1996. She was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel in 1990 for her work with the Fair. She will be remembered for her devout faith and love of her family. Mrs. Richardson will be greatly missed by not only her family, but also many friends, especially her caregivers. Visitations will be held at St. Cecilia Church on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 5-8 pm and Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 11am-12pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia Church on Tuesday, November 9, at 12 noon. Memorials can be made to St. Cecilia Church Building Fund, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.
