Obituary of Garnett Arnold

Garnett "Bud" Arnold, age 83, of Independence, died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at his residence. He was a retired Foreman for the Kentucky State Highway Department (20 years) and a member of Independence Christian Church. Mr. Arnold was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Army and served in WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam. After 22 years of service, he retired from the 101rst Airborne Division Artillery in 1967, after returning from Vietnam. His wife, Betty Arnold, son, Robert Arnold, and daughter, Cynthia Arnold Westerman, preceded him in death. Survivors include his son, Vernon E. "Bill" Arnold of Independence; and (6) grandchildren. Graveside services, with military honors, will be Friday, December 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Independence Cemetery. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence is handling the arrangements. Memorials can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or Independence Christian Church, 5221 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051-7942.
