Obituary of Charles Mayes

Charles D. "Ky. Cowboy" Mayes, age 68, of Sparta, died January 12, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. He was formerly employed at Signode and retired from Levi Strauss. A member of Oakland Baptist Church in Glencoe. Preceded in death by grandparents Lona and Eary Mayes, mother Viola Johnson, father Windell Mayes and half-brother Danny Mayes. Survivors include his wife, Linda Mayes of Sparta; daughters, Darla Still(Robert) and Denise Robinson of Sparta, granddaughter Brittany King, grandsons Derrick King, Kyle Still and Trent Robinson, step-granddaughter Rachel Carpenter and step-great-grandchildren Cameron and Autumn Carpenter and 7 half- brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11 am to 1 pm at Chambers & Grubbs in Walton. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be at Glencoe Cemetery.
