Obituary of Harold Tillett

Harold Preston Tillett of Independence, KY died on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare of Edgewood. He was a retired supervisor and technical instructor for the General Electric Co. where he was employed for 38 years. He was an active member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Deacon Emeritus, Trustee and a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Latonia Masonic Lodge #746, the Indra Consistory, Scottish Rite, Covington, KY and the General Electric Quarter Century Club. Mr. Tillett had served on the Independence City Council for 10 years and the Independence Zoning Board of Adjustment for 15 years. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, a Kentucky Colonel and a Kentucky Admiral. Survivors include his wife, Beulah "Boots" Hayes Tillett (65 years); daughters, Lyndia Gayle Bingham of Crittenden; Patsy Jean Raleigh, of Hebron; and Carolyn Sue Burkhardt of Austin, TX; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 from 10am to 12pm with the funeral service beginning at 12noon, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Tillett will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, KY. Memorial donations can be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 11969 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, KY 41051.
