Obituary of Anna Leake

Anna Lula Wilson Leake, age 75, of Walton, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at her son's residence. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Walton, where she taught the Friendship Sunday School Class for nearly 30 years. Through the years she held several positions in the church including the Women on Mission Director, Church Clerk, and Church Historian. She retired from Cincinnati Gas & Electric and as City Clerk of Walton. Later, Ann served as a Walton City Council Member and was instrumental in the establishment of the Walton-Verona Veteran's Memorial. Ann was very civic minded and was active in the Boone County Historical Society, the WaNa Club, and the Gaines Tavern restoration. In addition she was a contributing writer to the Boone County Recorder and was an avid reader. Survivors include her children, Laura (Alan) Britton of Burgin, KY, Rob (Margie) of Independence, KY; step-daughter, Susan (Lew) Charbonneau of Navarre, FL; three grandchildren, Justin Leake, Parker Britton, and Natalie Britton; and one great grandchild, Cayden Leake. Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs in Walton. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hopeful Lutheran Cemetery in Florence. Memorials may be made to the Walton Verona Veterans Memorial at P.O. Box 95, Walton, KY 41094.
