Obituary of Katherine Elder

Katherine M. Elder, 97, of Florence, KY and formerly of Staunton, IN, died September 14, 2011 in Florence, KY. Katherine graduated from Glenn High School and later Wabash Business College, in Terre Haute. She married Paul Elder and together they owned and operated Elder Grocery Store and post office in Staunton for 38 years. She was a member of the Staunton Christian Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher. Katherine also served as the historian for the church and the town of Staunton. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1989 and a grandson Tony Kirchner in 1990. She is survived by two daughters: Beverly Hill (Larry) of Noblesville, IN and Charlotte Weaver (Gene) of Florence, KY; a son John Elder (Linda) of Rancho Santa Fe, California; eight grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren as well as many extended family members. Services will be at French Funeral Home, in Brazil, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:00pm with Brother Doug Parkey and her son-in-law Gene Weaver officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Saturday from noon until time of services. Donations in her memory may be made to Staunton Christian Church, Staunton, IN.
