Obituary of Gussie Combs

Gussie Louise Ayres Combs, age 71, of Morning View, died Monday, September 19, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. She was a former Housekeeping Manager for Why Motel and a member of Morning View United Methodist Church. Mrs. Combs loved crocheting, playing bingo, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her parents, Cecil B. and Jessie Ayres Conway; twin infants, Darrell and Gerald Combs; brother, Ronald Ayres; and sister, Mary Gleason all preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Hensley Combs, Sr.; sons, Hensley Combs, Jr. of Kenton, Daniel (Rose) Lee Combs and James Arthur Combs, both of Morning View; brother, Jim Conway of Covington; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and beloved aunt, Mrs. Anna Wright. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs in Independence. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Wilmington Cemetery in Morning View. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
